Really Simple Sponge Cake
Here is a recipe for a tasty sponge
cake which is quick and easy to make.
Ingredients: 150g Butter (needs to
be very soft, so not straight from the fridge) 150g Self
raising flour 150g Castor sugar 1 tsp Baking powder 3
Medium eggs (beaten)
Method: - Preheat oven to 190°C (gas mark 5)
, reduce to 160°C for electric fan ovens. - Place all
the ingredients into a mixing bowl and beat together until
smooth (add a drop of milk if required to give a soft dropping consistency).
- Grease
and line two 8" sandwich cake tins and spread half the mixture in to each. - Cook for 25-30 mins until golden brown and just firm to the touch.
Serving suggestion: - When cool,
fill the cake with a thin layer of smooth apricot jam and
serve with squirty cream!
